Corporate social responsibility

The Grangemouth Heritage Trust is sponsored by Astrazeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical company with a plant in Grangemouth.

According to their website they “aim to be responsible members of our local communities through charitable donations”. They donate to local charities that “improve healthcare in the local community”.

The difficulty with such corporate social responsibility is judging whether it is a cynical attempt to placate a local community, or a genuine principle of a company trying to mitigate against some of the inherent environmental issues associated with such industries.

Maureen works at the Grangemouth Heritage Trust, and believes that its industrial heritage should be celebrated.
